Private Pilot Fixed Wing

“I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth…” ~ John Magee Jr.

So you want to be a pilot? Cool, lets talk about how that works and what you need to do.

First, its back to class with ground school. Now, depending on where you sign up to get your pilot training, you might be able to do your GS by yourself on your own time. However, some academies do require actual classroom time and occasionally even homework, so make sure you ask about that.

Once you have finished ground school you will be asked to demonstrate your comprehension to your instructor via a practice test. At this point they will give approval for you to take the national test; this allows you get in the cockpit with your instructor and actually take control of the aircraft!
